Key Stage 4 Provision

In Year 11, pupils who have opted to study a language for GCSE begin a two year course in French, incorporating the four language skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking. The exam board that we have selected is AQA. Coursework accounts for 60% of the marks and the final exam is worth 40%. GCSE pupils work with the French language assistant for two classes per week and find this contact with a native speaker very beneficial indeed.

School Trip to France

For many pupils, one of the highlights of their school days at St. Comhghall’s is undoubtedly the biennial trip to Paris. Over the years, hundreds of excited students, accompanied by dozens of teachers, have delighted in the attractions of a holiday of a lifetime in the beautiful French capital. The next trip, due to take place in September 2010, is already being gleefully anticipated!
